Pilgrimage to Manasarover and the Holy Mt. Kailash

Mt.Kailash claimed to be the apex of the Hindu religious axis is also one of the highest mountain in Tibet at 22,022 feet, and Lake Manasarover at 14,950 feet is said to be the highest fresh water lake in the world. Certainly a difficult region to reach due to the variable and extreme weather conditions. The distance from Lhasa for example is approximately 2000 km.

Only during the last few years have lots of ordinary and not so ordinary travelers, been able to experience this region. Road conditions are difficult much of the time and we have to make many preparations to ensure that we have a reasonable chance of reaching Kailash. We need to bring our own food and camping equipment. Basic lodges and tea-houses can be found but the plateau is so remote that it is possible to travel for several days without finding food available. To travel for days on this remote plateau with the chance encounters of  nomads herding their sheep or yaks is to be transformed into another way of life, to see and become part of such a devout pilgrimage as shown by pilgrims around Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarover is to put some aspects of our western way of life into proper perspective.

Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Morning: Half day Sightseeing tour of Pashupatinath and Bouddhanath Stupa.
Afternoon: Kailash briefing about your tour to Kailash, Overnight at Hotel

DAY 03: Early Morning Drive from Kathmandu to Kodari (Nepal Boarder). Walk to The Friendship Bridge and drive uphill to Zhangmu. After completing custom and immigration formalities, proceed to Nyalam. Overnight at Guest House. (153 Kms / 6-7 Hrs)

DAY 04: Stay at Nyalam (3750m) for acclimatization. The Group will be taken for a 3 hrs walk in Nyalam. Overnight at Guest House.

DAY 05: Drive Nyalam – Saga (4500m – 240 Kms / 7-8 Hrs). Overnight at Guest House.

DAY 06: Drive to Paryang (4650m - 230 Kms / 6-7 Hrs). Overnight at Guest House. 

DAY 07: Drive to Manasarover. (4560m – 270 Kms / 6-7 Hrs ).Overnight at Camp/Guest House.

DAY 08: AM- Visit Lake Manasarovar for Snan(Bath) and Puja (4520m) PM- Drive to Darchen (4620m -40 Kms/ 1 Hrs). Overnight at Guest House.

DAY 09: Drive ahead of  Tarboche starting point of Kailash Parikarma (13 Kms) start trek to Dirapuk (4900m) approx 6-7 Hrs trek. Overnight at Camp.

DAY 10:  Trek to Zuthul Puk (4890m).Approx 9-10 Hrs.trek. This day is very hard and sensitive. We have to cross Dolma –La Pass (5600m) and the weather is unpredictable in the Pass. Parvati-sthal and Gauri Kunda are on the way. Overnight at Camp in Zuthul Puk.

DAY 11: End Kailash Parikrama. Approx 3- 4 Hrs Trek. Drive back to Manasarover Lake. Overnight at Camp/Guest House

DAY 12: Drive to Paryang (270 Kms / 6-7 Hrs.) Overnight at Guest House.

DAY 13: Drive to Saga ( 230 Kms / 6-7 Hrs.) Overnight at Guest House.

DAY 14: Drive to Nyalam. (240 Kms / 6 – 7 Hrs). Overnight at Guest House.

DAY 15: Drive downhill to Zhangmu and Friendship Bridge where transportation awaits for the final leg of journey to Kathmandu. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 16: Final Departure.

Nepal side:-

Tibet side:-

TOUR CANCELLATION:
There will be a cancellation fee of 25% for any cancellation three weeks prior to Tour departure date, 50% two weeks prior to Tour departure date and no refund thereafter. No refund for no shows & delay arrivals whatsoever reason.
